MacRitchie Hike 2007.
Was a very fun day really.
My fourth time with OB
Even the delays at the start of the day made us finish ahead of time.
So, what was different for this year's hike?
We took the trail to the TreeTop walk, instead of the shorter route to Jelutong Tower straight.
I think my fitness has improved greatly since the recee date.
I was walking so fast and probably reached the treetop in half the time and didnt really break a sweat.
I even saw kids from my Temasek Sec canoeing team.
Anyhoo, nothing really exciting until Jelutong.
There were people rapelling of the side of the tower.
And our WHOLE group of 38 people went up to the top.
The tower was shaking while we were eating lunch.
Well, apparently the food wasnt enough.
Have to keep that in mind for future events.
Next, was the ever-fun jungle walk.
Again, a bit of difference.
Last year, we were given specific bearings
This year, they had to find thier own.
Was surprised that my group found 300 first.
300 happens to be the "easiest" route.
Farand tried to put them off, by asking whether they were sure it was a good choice, but they wanted to go for it anyway.
I put Ian at the front for the first part.
I was at the "side"
Taking alternate routes while keeping the group in visual range.
We wanted to do simulation, but couldnt come up with anything
Not sure if Farand or Daren noticed this, but as we were ending our discussion on the simulation, we had our first casualty, Sally.
She had zillions of fine thorns in her middle finger. *ahem*
First time I had to do first aid.
Well, apparently I didnt do a good job, cause there were always thorns appearing somewhere and seemed like I was causing so much more pain.
hehe.
Spent so long, both inside jungle, and at school removing them.
My eyes hurt from focusing too much on one finger.
Oh well. Hope it gets well soon.
Had other injuries to Ben, Ian, and Hui Ting too I think.
But they probably managaed to sort thiers out, hopefully.
We even faked that Ian got bitten by a snake and I had to suck the poison out.
That was a good laugh
SO,we were the first group in and out of the forest, so had time to slack at KAP after that. Milo, Green Tea, Milkshake were on the menu. With the exception of Daren, who bought Anything.
Bathe, debrief, comm debrief, come home late.
That was all I guess.
At least I get a break from activities now.
Urgh. Time to concentrate on common test.
